Josak had secured a lifeboat from the man that Conrad previously bribed to stop hitting Rick. The group rows to the island, but Wolfram continues to be seasick and drowsy. Yuuri encourages the rhythm for rowing using Lamaze breathing rhythm.
On the island, they climb an "easy paved road" (actually steep with a lot of rocks) and get to a rest area. The girl that serves them tea and biscuits tells them the fire festival is on the other mountain, but Conrad affirms they're in the right place. The girl tells a story about how 15 or 16 years ago, a red light came from the sky and landed in the hot spring. Anyone that goes in the water tends to feel pins and needles or can get burned or even die. She claims it was a demon monster.
Yuuri, Conrad, and Josak take a boat into the cave spring to vanquish the demon monster, or in other words, get the demon sword Morgif. Along the way, Conrad gets burned by the water, which Yuuri finds to be luke warm, but a drop that landed on his pants burned straight through. Once they find the sword, Yuuri's told to strip, since the clothes aren't part of him and will burn.
Yuuri goes towards the sword and reaches for it. He recoils as it bit him and he notices the face on it. He gets the overwhelming feeling of being cursed and doesn't want any part of it. Josak makes a few verbal jabs and Yuuri vents his frustration before they return to the inn without Morgif.
Yuuri goes to sleep thinking of Josak's words to him about how mazoku simply shut up and obey the maou without question.
